Breakfast at Da Paolo Gastronomia - Holland Village

ABBEY: My wife requested for crodos and she just told me that the shop is at Holland Village. So on one of my weekly offs I started my journey to find that treasure chest. I've been at Holland Village many times but Da Paolo Gastronomia was located across the road. I was happy bringing home Wilma's craving. And I planned to bring her to it for breakfast.

After my night shift ended, we went there and had our fill. I got a breakfast combo for $10.50; scrambled egg, mushroom, the greens, garlic bread, and coffee. It was good and became even better when I put Tabasco sauce for a little kick.

Wilma was happy to see the place full of pastries and cozy.

WILL: Abbey kept on bragging about the Gastronomia at Holland Village. He keep on asking me to have a breafast with him in that place and we got the chance to dine after his night shift last 9th of August.
As I walked-in to the restaurant, the aroma of freshly baked pastries and breads greeted me with delight.
I ordered a tea and croissant set and hubby ordered the egg breakfast set.
The tea is so great and have an unusual taste, it was named enery tea. But the croissant failed on my expectation. The bread is hollow inside, I felt that I was cheated, why? the price of their croissant is quite expensive compared to others.
I hope that Gastronomia will look on to this issue.

Baked by Da Paolo Gastronomia @ Holland Village

ABBEY: The new craze in New York hits also Singapore. People are craving for crodos ( croissant-doughnuts a.k.a cronuts). And be sure to go into the store early as the pastries are gone in a flash. I also read that other people ask their friends from the US to bring some when they visit this city state. It will definitely capture everyone's taste as the melts-in-your-mouth dough and sweetness of doughnut were combined.

We got our share from Da Paolo Gastronomia at Holland Village.  Each crodos is almost SGD4.90. But I'm telling you, its worth it. They have cream, lemon-merengue and chocolate. I preferred chocolate especially when the filling bursts after each bite. I can see my wife's excitement when she saw boxes of crodos before her eyes.

Celebrating Singapore National Day they created crodos with red stripe and stars.

WILL: Crodos or Cronuts? Whatever the name is, this pastry made a big blast in New York and now hit Singapore with a big boom!
I saw the photos in Holland Village Singapore facebook page, saved and asked Abbey if he can get some for me, not more than 3 days, wish granted!
He told me that the cream flavoured was already out and Da Paolo Gastronomia's staff says that it only sits in their store for few hours. But anyway, I love the chocolate flavor more. The price is $4.90 quite expensive isn't it? But I promise that it's worthy of its price.
Abbey surprised me of the National Day special and merengue. They ate all good! Abbey never fails to know what I love to eat ;)

Breko Cafe - Holland Village - Singapore

ABBEY: Vincent wanted to have dinner at Holland Village. Since its only a couple of stops away from our home, we said yes. We were looking for a place to dine and we found Breko Cafe. They serve Western cuisine like steak, burgers, and pasta.

At less than 15sgd, I had a big crispy chicken bacon burger and a handful of fries on a large plate. They were delicious and satisfied my hunger. Make sure to order early and follow it up as it will take time to be served but worth the wait.

The place is jam-packed every night.

WILLYou can find Breko Cafe at two places, 38 Lorong Mambong & 229 Victoria Street Bugis Village, and we dined at their Holland Village branch!
Have you been at Holland V? Well this is one of the famous Makan place here in Singapore. At the right hand side of this place, you will find a lane of bars and cafe, and Breko is among them.
The place was jampacked but we only waited for only minutes for our turn. The place have a layback feeling, a very good attitude for a Friday night. I ordered Chargrilled Salmon, Abbey asked for Crispy Chicken Bacon Burger and Vince had Ribeye Steak. The serving is too big for me and the taste is like you are eating it in a five star hotel.
Thanks for the recommendation Vince, looking forward for more pigging-out.

Crystal Jade Kitchen at Holland Village & Crystal Jade My Bread at Takashimaya

ABBEY: We had another round of Citibank points to exchange into vouchers. We chose Crystal Jade for a change. The vouchers are redeemable either on their restaurants or bakeries. We had dinner at their branch in Holland Village. You can do a walk-in or to be sure make a reservation. The place is jam-packed. Its a good thing the staff allowed us to have a table at the second floor. They gave us less than hour to dine as the place will be used for a function.

I tried their Fried Noodle with Shredded Pork & Cabbage . As it is a Chinese cuisine, the dish is flavorful and presented beautifully. We also tried their dumplings. The sauce and the dumplings complement each other well; leaving you to crave for more.

For a 30sgd-meal we only paid 10sgd less the 20sgd voucher. The other voucher we spent buying bread on their bakery at Crystal Jade My Bread at Takashimaya. This made Wilma ecstatic. She liked bread and pastries a lot. We bought floss, their must-have Mini Hong Kong BBQ Pork Bun, cake, coffee and milk buns. She was very happy seeing large quantities of dough-delight put in two large plastic bags. As we can't finish them all before expiration we shared some to our housemates.

Thanks Crystal Jade.

WILL: Do you know that Crystal Jade serves Authentic Chinese Cuisine with love for beyond two decades already? Do you know that Crystal Jade is one of established restaurant well-known not only in Singapore but across Asia. Do you know that Crystal Jade not only have restaurants but also have bakeries?
Holland Village Is the nearest branch of Crystal Jades's restaurant from our home. We called because when we pass by at their place, we always saw that they are fully-packed and the queue is too long, but its too late, the reservation list was full and they just asked us to be their walked-in guests. We agreed and hailed taxi immediately, we don't like to be caught up on a long line of grumbling stomachs. Haha!
No queue as we arrived by 530PM, they immediately assisted us to the second floor. I ordered La Mian Soup with minced pork and vegetable wanton. When I saw the serving, I already knew that I will carry a take-away bag later.. It is too many for me, and Abbey already raised both hands in surrender to eat my left-over. It costs $9.50 but good for two serving. The soup and the noodles is so tasty. So delicious!
Abbey went for Fried Noodle with Shredded Pork & Cabbage in Shanghai Style for $12.80, so good that he managed to eat it all, he also ordered a Deep-fried Pork Rib in "Wu Xi" Style for $8.50.
This date night costs us to pay the $40.00 voucher.
Then Abbey and I decided to spend the remaining $20.00 on their breads. After our remittance at iRemit at Lucky Plaza, we went to Crystal Jade My Bread located at Takashimaya. Gosh, there are so many breads... newly baked and the alluring aroma keep me to pick more breads that the costs of the our voucher, haha.. We added $2.00.The bread is so tasty, I am really the fan of their bakery since I tasted their tarts! Love it a lot!
Before I forgot, thank you so much to Citibank Singapore for the $60.00 vouchers.
