Monopoly Electronic Banking

ABBEY: The Austrias gave us a different version of this board game : Monopoly Electonic Banking. Yes, no cash. Only debit cards. The most expensive title deed is New York and the prices are in millions. Since we will not let each to be the winner, we are closed on deals like trading  and buying properties for us to complete a colored-group to build houses and hotels. So Wilma and I got into an agreement. We can buy properties but thrice its price. :)

It went well. At first I thought I was winning and then I keep on landing to all the airports which she owns and I have to pay 2M. But my trap at the properties near the Free Parking and the White House made her surrender on our first battle. Hooray!

I think she just made me experience it as the next ones are all for her.

Monopoly Electronic Banking

WILL: Ate Abigail gave us a Monopoly Electronic Banking. And afterover a year, we finally found time to play with it. Abbey came out of the rule how we will both play and will not end up biting off each other’s property haha.

How to play it without the play money? Well, it is easier and time saver. Counting money is quite time consuming haha! And replacing play money with a gadget also took the fear of loss of paper money.

All in all, I appreciate this replacement. Good job Monopoly! Thanks Ate Abigail, Kuya Victory and ThurThor! You can buy Monopoly Electronic Banking at Toys"R"Us.

Playing Monopoly With Kids

ABBEY: When I saw Monopoly board for the first time, I started to like it. The feeling of owning houses and hotels and lots of money at hand interests me. This is what I asked my father to buy me when he's abroad. And he gave me the British version. So Mayfair is my Boardwalk. But time passed and I have no one to play with as I knew that the game will take time and my siblings got no time for that. :)

I got an iPad and I bought the electronic version. Still nothing beats the physical ones.

We want to teach financial education to our nephews and niece and I know this can break the ice. For them it is only a game but I'm hoping that they will learn from this. We started the game 10pm and ended at 3AM as the tutorial is being counted in. They now knew how to make a deal, when to buy houses, what are the key spots and getting out of jail free with the roll of a dice. I even heard one of them saying "Tatalunin kita Tita Wil" which made me think that they are having goals now. Few more games and then we'll introduce Reobert Kiyosaki's Cashflow 101.

Hannah, Baste, Sam & Tito Abbey

WILL: Financial lesson must be learned firstly from home. I just want to pass-over all the lessons that parents thought me when I am still young. In my early age, all I have in my hand is either book, Barbie, or dice of this Monopoly / Millionaire Game. At an early age, they thought as how to save money in the bank (even, they do not trust banks, haha)! Our mind is open how to use “paluwagan” to benefit the members in good things. As early as 7, I am at our lumber business and learning to be a cashier and listening to tales for us not be fooled by my parents’ employees nor clients.

And I am so proud to my nephews and niece that they chose to have Monopoly Board Game than to have a rubber shoes. Haha! So we did bought it and asked them to take an extra good care of those.

When Abbey and I went home, they keep on bugging us to play with them. I witnessed for myself what are their traits in handling and solving issues about money.

My niece cried and threw a white flag when she realized that she have a small amount on hand. We explained to her that that is just a game, a practise. And the reality of life is a bitter or sweet and that will depend on the result of her choices. She then told us, she is ready again to fight us on the next round.

I observed that my Sam (the fat one) is really eager to defeat me and his Tito Abbey warned him “You will never defeat Tita Wilma in regards with money, Sam”. I smirk to my niece and look onto his eyes challenging him more.

Baste, the thin one, while he and his brother is bidding for a certain lot blurted out “$900.00!!!” Sam happily responded “Iyo na!” Sam knew her brother do not have enough cash and the pitiful Baste can’t do anything but to mortgage some of his properties with the bank. It does taught him to honor his words.

Consecutive days, we are all out of sleep. But I am happy playing/teaching them.

Clash of Clans

ABBEY: Whenever I view memes through an iPad application I got ads to try Clash of Clans. But most of the time I turn them down. One day it was listed on the AppsGoneFree and it was priced at 7sgd. I don't know if this is the real price but I downloaded it anyway. It just sit down on my device for a long time. When I was bored and searching for a new game to play, I saw it then tried it. It was like Farmville-RedAlert- strategy game. Woah, Red Alert? I'm too old.

The game is good. You must put a good defense for your camp and offense if you will be raiding another camp. You can also join a clan which can help you for your strategy. You can ask for additional troops as well. But in turn, donate some also.

I observed that you can only attack or have revenge a particular camp for a number of times. This is a breather if you're on the defense. We still have a lot to accomplish on this game. I don't know if SuperCell will release a version for Android.

WILL: Me: What is that?
      Abbey: Clash of Clans
Me: Is that building an empire? Like Battle Realms?
      Abbey: Yes
      Me: Let me see.

And from there on, I took in-charge what should be done on Abbey's clan.
I love to play chess that maybe this kinds of games lure me. A strategy/building game.
Abbey got the iPad application for free and keep on updating to suffice the happiness of the user. Its almost a month when we started to play this and I am so addicted that I woke up in the eerie time just to check my clan.
Really nice game to heightened your skills and you can find some friends here too from different parts of the world.

Meet Up and Cashflow Game

ABBEY: Wilma and I decided to learn more about handling our finances. We believe that we have to be good stewards with the blessings that God is giving to us.

Here we meet like-minded people who wants to enrich their financial literacy and eventually become financially independent.

The attendees were less than 10 but we had fun sharing our ideas, tips on investment and calculating the money you have left after spending most of it on a yacht for a "doodad" :)) We indulged in sisig-style tofu and pork ribs and chicken barbecue. It was a day full of FREE learning.

Yes, playing cashflow game is free here :) Until next time!

WILL: I know Robert Kiyosaki's game board named Cashflow and just recently Abbey and I play these board through e-game. Abbey always won almost each round bit we are still craving to play the real one with real people.
Cashflow game is a real fun while learning how to attack the different situation that may occur in real life. Here you can see who is the risk takers and who are very conservative in investing.

The Mind Cafe (Singapore)

ABBEY: Going to this cafe is long overdue. We planned to go here when Kuya Ric went for a visit but didn't have the time. After dinner at Curry House we stopped by the place.

9sgd per person includes free-flow of drinks of the day and 2 hours of playing any game available. We got the old-but-good Connect 4. Form 4 chips horizontally, vertically or diagonally and you win the game. I won both games with Chat and Wilma. Next they tried Battleship but haven't finished the game as they had a hard time destroy each other's ships. We wanted to play quick games so we can play as many times as we can. That didn't happen.
We played Monopoly:Superman Returns edition. Though its a long game we totally had fun specially if you are winning. Isn't that right, Wilma and Chat?

The cafe also offers cocktail snacks to munch in.  Singapore Book of records awards this as the cafe to have the most number of board game. This is good experience.

WILL: I am searching for a great place to fill in some caffeine craving while my oldest brother was here and then I saw Mind Cafe. It was on my list but the schedule really stopped as to go in here.
Chat treated us for a dinner, she got her bonus! Haha! She shared her blessings to us. After dinner, damn I am full and I want to help my stomach to digest it, I need tea. ;)
I don't want to go to any cafes in 313 Somerset, then my brain made me realized to go to The Mind Cafe.
From Orchard, it is only 3 stops for bus #65. After 12 minutes, we were stepping our way up to this cafe. Actually, now I am not after for a hot drink that will help my tummy to digest my food, I am here to enjoy and play all the boardgames I can.
As we entered, we were welcomed warmly by their staff and  huge stacks of boardgames. Like a child, I grinned. So many games to play for only 2 hours. I played and all the games I lost. Haha! Lucky we don't bet for anything. Luck is not at my side at that day.
For two hours, we indulged on their unlimited cold drinks and play-all-you-can boardgames for only $9.00 per pax. This is just beside SOTA, a great location for students to let the stress away. This is a great idea of a unique cafe.

Monopoly - EA Games

Abbey:
Since I was a child, I like this game. I received it as gift from my father. A game can take 30 minutes or an hour; a long one. I can't blame my siblings if they got bored. I was glad when I knew that Playstation released a version of this board game. Now I can play with AI and with all the official rules of it. It is also good to know that Monopoly has a version for Ipad. Got it when EA games went on sale. 0.99 cents per game. It has tutorials, cut-scenes and 3D effects. The first game I played it, I lost to my wife. She got the properties early in the game and I got all the fines. It also happened on the second one, but still I admit it I really love this game.

WILL: And then the game is on! I don't have a monopoly game board when i was a child but my cousin does!, how lucky she is. Hehe.
Abbey bought this iPad and iPhone applications when EA games have their sale, $0.99. Very good offer to tap on the install sign. Hehe. Of course, Abbey never wins! Friend kami ng dice eh. Hehe. :)

FML

ABBEY:
These are one or two-liners stories of people who had a bad day or unusual experiences. You can vote "You deserved it" or "Your life sucks" at the end of every story. You can read stories like a college student who planned to surprise his parent to go back to their home for school break only knowing that his parents are off to his school. Or a guy being dumped by his gf on SMS because he's not answering his phone as he's in coma for 3 days. Weird stories but funny. Visit the site, www.fmylife.com and vote. I heard that they have a book with illustration. Can't wait read that :)

WILL: F My Life. This is nice for iPhone App. You can say to yourself, wow I am blessed. Why?, here you can read how f@cked-up their life was. A worth reading, most of it you will laugh because of their stupidity, some of it creates the emotion of being worried for that person, some makes me feel sad.
Overall, its a good read.

Zynga Cafe World

ABBEY: Before I cooked a real dish, I used to practice on these game. But unlike the real one, you won't accidentally cut your finger or get hurt by cooking oil that pop out of the pan. This game introduced me to different dishes of the world; Italian, Mexican, American, and even "alien" food. Be sure to get the food out of the stove once its cooked else it'll spoil. I cook dishes that has large number of servings but less time to cook. Once I got many dishes to serve, I picked the food that can give large profits. They would take days to cook, but you can be a millionaire in no time :) Sadly, we got bored to this game. Its endless. Glad to have played this game for some time.

WILL: I am self-confessed Cafe World Addict then. It gives me some satisfaction to look on my level heading up than others.
Here you can decorate your own restaurant. Then cook the food you want sell. Dito, walang nagrereklamo sa lasa ng luto ko.. Hehe.
I just ended up the game without a reason. Fed up. Worth a try but so many time wasted.

Angry Birds

ABBEY:
I managed to complete a level of this iPhone game. And that was an accomplishment for me after trying so many times. I got frustrated because sometimes my friend gravity don't help me to topple the structure to beat my porky foes. Once is enough, I guess.

WILL: I am not angry. I am FURIOUS. Title defines what will happen to you while you were playing this game. How can i manage my temper if the blocks that supposedly be drop and gone is still there. Hellllloooo physics? Ooppps logic na lng, by the force and gravity haayy, very unnatural that some blocks stayed in their places. 1.99USD in buying this application was a waste. Hmp! Hate you pigs!

Plants Vs. Zombies

ABBEY:
I didn't play this game. I'm afraid being eaten by zombies. I'm always in panic mode whenever they're near on my plants. I can't analyze what to do. Good thing is that Wilma managed to finish it. She doesn't want the 3.99USD investment to be wasted.

WILL: Early last year, almost everyone i know is playing this game. And as usual, i do not care. Ha! So i am out when Denise and John talking about their plays and moves. 10th of April, i am expecting to have my new iTouch, kapalit ni Zeny, but when i got to the hotel to celebrate my bday, i was astounded to have an iPhone 3GS, and the color, a lovely white. Plants vs Zombies was already purchased and installed. Thats when the addiction started.
What i can get from playing this game? Strategy and decision making. I even finish the game first than Denise. :)

Talking Tom

ABBEY:
This is the Apple version of "tamagotchi", but you are not required to bathe, feed, and care for the pet though. Its a fun way to relax. Tickle, touch its forehead and hear it purr. By the way the first time I see this app, I was told to touch his head, but my hand was so heavy that I knocked him down. Sorry, PETA, it will not happen again. :) I think this app has different kinds of pets now, but for a fee.

WILL: Well, This was an application na nakakatuwa s iPhone, it's a hit, thats why marami na rin ang kung anu-ano like this ang meron s App Store.
This helps to send a message to Abbey. hehe.

Rubik's Cube

Abbey:
We had this kind of puzzle since we were kids. We tried to solve it then but no luck, even by memorizing our moves. We only managed to solve one side. When I entered college, my classmate thought me how to solve it. Voila, I finished it with no sweat. Memorize only few algorithms and you're good to go. Now I have 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, Pyraminx, the "Transformer" Rubik's cube (Rubik's Cube Icon), Rubik's revolution, Rubik's twist. Latest one is my 3x3 Wooden Rubik's cube. Fastest time is 2 minutes flat. I hope I can do better than that.

WILL: We have this cube when I was about 8 years old. Pero I don't have the idea to solve it, so I rather have my time to my barbies. hehe.
Now I know how to solve the 3x3, taught by Abbey. It's fun to play this cube lalo n yung revolution. Kaya pala nakalagay na it can be played by people from 5 to 105 of age, kasi you will just push the button that will lit. hehehe.
     Addiction of Abbey ;)

Farmville by Zynga on Facebook

Abbey: This is my "Harvest Moon" made online. Nakakatuwa nung nakita ko ito. Minsan may instance pa na nagtatanim ako, then maglogin si Wil tapos mawawala yung tinanim ko. Hehe. Our ultimate goal is to collect all the mastery sign ng lahat ng crops. Pero naging impossible kasi ba naman, every month may bagong crops. Ang hirap, kakaubos ng oras. Endless ang game. Parang kailangan mong ibigay ang dugo't pawis mo para maka-keep up.

Its good that I tried this game, natuto akong maghintay kung kelan dapat i-harvest ang crops at paano magtipid ng gasolina.
You also learn to socialize para makahingi ka ng panggawa ng horse stable :)

Will: Okay! I am certified addict in playing this online game...but not now. I don't know why, one day, I just got tired in clicking my mouse to plow, seed in, and harvest the crops, trees and animals.

Indeed, its a sort of escape in a busy and chaotic city we live in, but it is consuming so much time that a man can be productive in doing other things.

Love this game but no thanks.
